Why Is Exercise So Great?

I am running a half marathon in May that I am starting to get ready for, and my friend invited me to do a triatholon at the end of March. Am I ready for that? NO. Have I been swimming or biking lately? NO. BUT I am now in training. I am really excited for these events.

I don't know what it is about running and working out in general. I think I NEED it to stay sane. For instance today I had run out of patience and energy completely. I came home and went running and felt so much better. I reminded myself of how I love my job, and my kids, and I was again ready to tackle another day.

Ahhh.. The Good Old Days

Today is Valentine's Day. This year was a little different than the past few years. I got to relive my elementary days. It was so fun to watch their excitement and to remember how I used to feel back then. They all made their own bags and taped them on their desks for people to drop treats in.
I remember getting the cards, and loving them so much. Luckily, in third grade there isn't too many crushes going on. But that didn't stop some people. Drama, drama, drama.
We did all crafts for our party. I think that they had fun, even though I heard complaints about not having a movie on like the Christmas party (of course coming from a boy). Boys just don't get into hearts and pink and all that good stuff like girls. I can't believe it!!

This is after they exchanged all their treats. They were sooo excited.

There was some blushing going on:)

This is our tissue heart, if you can tell.

This is our little mice we made out of hershey kisses.

Showing off their mice.

We made hands with hearts for their moms.

So many bears, and so much candy! It was very nice.

President Hinckley

When I heard that President Hinckley had passed away, I felt happy for him and I felt very calm. You could just tell he was ready to see his wife and his maker. Since then I don't feel like I've taken the time to really remember him and what he's done for us.
I ran across this article, (on someone else's blog) and I wanted to share it as well. It really put in perspective the man he was and how he truly has changed the world. He is a man who is respected by many who are not of his faith. President Hinckley was definitly a prophet for our time. He is an amazing example to anyone. I feel so close to him and I have never met him. I remember when I was deciding whether to be baptized or not I saw President Hinckley speak and I just felt like he was an honest man, and that he wouldn't lead me astray. I love him and am grateful for what he has given me.

Here is the website. There are some really awesome comments from people you may of never thought knew him as well as they did.

A Wonderful Winter

This winter has been very busy. Although maybe not as busy as last winter. We've had a lot going on. The winter break was just what I needed, going home and relaxing was wonderful. I actually had a really hard time coming back, but I am adjusting again.
First we flew to Denver for my friend Emily's wedding on the 15th. Then we flew back to finish up school that week. Then we drove back to Denver where we spent the rest of our break. We had a wonderful Christmas, and then we reached our 1 year anniversary. I can't believe it's been a year! It has honestly been the most wonderful year. I feel so lucky to be married to Drew. He is the best person I know. We were supposed to go to Glenwood Springs on our way back and stay at a bed and breakfast, but the highways were closed so we headed to down town Denver and stayed at one there. It was a blast.
Last night we celebrated my birthday. We went to Outback for dinner and then when we came home there was a surprise party waiting for me. It was a lot of fun. It was very nice of Drew. We had some highschool friends, some of our married friends, and family there.
So here are random pictures of this winter.

At the rehearsal dinner. I can't believe she's married!

There they are!

The beautiful bride.

You can see a glimpse of our huge tree from Walmart.

We had our own Christmas before we went to Colorado. This is an ornament to remember our first Christmas together.

We went to the Cheesecake Factory, and it was sooo good. We love lettuce wraps so we thought it was necessary to take a picture of them.
This is in the bed and breakfast. It was huge!

I promise people were there. We forgot to take pictures.

Kyla Grace Anderson

My sister just sent me some pictures she took over Thanksgiving. I absolutely love being home because I get to see my niece. It's hard being far away when she's changing so much. I am around kids all the time, and have lots of nieces and nephews on Drew's side who I love so much, but there is something about when it's my own sibling's child. Sometimes I can't believe that my sister has a daughter. She looks just like her. She is the cutest little girl, and melts my heart when I am around her. She is a girl who is loved. Everyone is fighting for her attention every moment. That could have something to do with being the only grand child. Anyway, it's just so fun.

Look how happy she is with us:) Ok maybe she sees her
mom taking the picture.

CHAMPIONS!

Well everyone, the time has come. We are now officially intramural champions, no need to say which division. None the less we are champions. Let me just tell you how it all went down; last night we played in freezing weather at 8pm, and let's just say it was a very sad sight. I wasn't feelin it in anyway, I mean literally I couldn't feel my feet. Anyway, we played a freshman team and they brought everyone they ever met to be their fans. Ok well maybe not that many, but their whole ward. They were pumped up and we were a little out of it. We lost and I must say anger was flowing through me. All last night I wasn't in a good mood.
So I decided that today was going to be the day. I wanted to get there early and warm up (which usually we show up 1 minute before the game). That is showing you how badly we wanted it tonight... meaning we showed up at least 5 minutes before. I even told my students all about it, maybe so they could pump me up. They promised they would think of me.
It didn't seem as cold tonight, and we kept shedding layers. The game started and we were playing tough. My lungs were burning like no other. We scored 4 points before they scored once. We were on a roll. Basically what I am trying to say is that we worked them. There was some anger flying back and forth, but there is no denying that we wooped em. Our team played the best game of the season.
I remember a time when I was talking to Liz and I was telling her how smart her kids were, and she said how competitive our kids will be. I think that she is probably right. Drew and I are very intense, even if it's division three ultimate frisbee (sorry Ty I can't just call it Ultimate). I have been telling myself that I won't be one of those parents who yells at the refs or players. Tonight there were parents there who lost it. I am pledging right now to harness the intensity I feel inside.
Here are some pics to show off our new shirts. Unfortunately we forgot to bring a camera to take a picture of the whole team. We decided to wear our shirts to church on Sunday and take one there. Ok... well maybe not with our shirts on.
