ER Adventures

Last night was a fun little adventure for us. Ok, not really at all. I had my first experience with a kidney stone. Earlier this week I had pain and some blood, so I thought it was my period. (Sorry probably TMI) But it had subsided so I didn't think too much about it. Yesterday I was feeling fine; went on a four mile run, ate dinner, and then around 7 I started having pain in my back on the right side. And it hit me like a truck. I was in tears probably thirty minutes later. I tried to take a bath and use the heating pad. I got a blessing, but by 8:30 I couldn't take it we had to go into the ER. It's so funny when I experience pain like this. I just transform into this other person. I don't care that I am moaning and crying while people are just watching me in the waiting room. I was seriously begging them to get me in to get some medicine. It was way worse than labor. So pathetic, really.
I was thinking you might be thinking that I am a wimp because of my labor story, but let me just mention that I got 10 stiches and felt everything during delivery. Although the pain couldn't match when she crowned... I don't think anything ever will. BUT this was excruciating. It turns out the stone is 6 mm (which I guess is VERY large). They gave me some meds, but nothing really worked until they took a cat scan and knew what it was and gave me a specific drug for kidney stones.
One of the nurses realized I was LDS and told me she married an LDS guy for 6 months, 3 weeks, and 2 days. YIKES. She was talking my ear off about a million things. She said a lot of things that weren't exactly true, but I could barely talk so I just nodded my head the best I could. So... bummer I feel like I want to talk to her about it, but too late now.
Thank goodness for Drew's parents who came and got Mel and took her back to our house. We got home around 2:30 a.m. Now I am on percocet and lots of IB profin. Percocet makes me feel really weird but I'll take it. I woke up at 7 with the same pain, but the meds are helping.
Hopefully I will pass it, but if not they have to go in and implode it or take it out I guess. Cross your fingers it will pass.
The worst part is they said now I could get them the rest of my life. Darn it. But I just kept thinking, what would I do back in the olden days with out medicine? I think there is a reason I was born in these times. Pain is not my friend.

Two Months

Well our little Melanie is over 2 months old now. She had her appointment and had her shots. (Which I hated by the way). It was terrible to watch, and she was sore the rest of the day.
Anyway, she is soooo cute. She is smiling like crazy. She is 22 1/2 inches long and weighs 10 lbs 6 oz. She can hold her head up, and we never have to help her anymore. I took a video of that but it isn't working right now, I will try to upload that again tomorrow.

Today Melanie had her baby blessing. It was wonderful. It was so fun to have friends and family there. Thanks for coming everyone, and for your love and support. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures at our house; I guess I was too busy chattin it up. We went to our house for lunch after sacrament. It was so fun to visit with everyone.

This dress has been passed around the family. I loved her in it.
