Back From The South

We can now feel good about leaving Utah. We have gone to all the major sites. Our friends Adam and Susan drove from Laramie on Sunday night, they stayed at our lovely bed and breakfast and then we drove down to St. George on Monday. We spent the evening hanging out, swimming, and just relaxing. Tuesday we got up and drove to the Grand Canyon. There are no words to describe it. It's too hard to capture on camera as well. We camped out that night, which was really nice, the weather was perfect. We got up the next morning and headed to Zion's. That too was unbelievable. It is just so gorgeous. We hiked up the Narrows, which was really neat. You had to hike up a river most of the way. And the mountain walls keep getting closer, or more narrow. Hence the Narrows. Then that night we stayed with some of Adam's family in St. George. Adam and Drew got up the next morning and went back to Zion's to do Angel's Landing. Which I really wanted to do, but was not in the right condition. I had serious blisters still from Mt. Timp, as well as a cold. Anyway, they loved it, and the pictures looked awesome.
That day we drove back to Provo, and Susan and Adam stayed with us until Saturday. It was fun to just hang out in P-town with them. Overall, it was an awesome trip. We planned on going to Hawaii with them, and that didn't work out, so this was the next best thing. Also, Susan is 4 months pregnant and did great!

This is part of the Narrows.

There are places that are super deep, and places that are really shallow. Drew can't touch the ground in this picture.

In 106 degree weather this felt great!

This is the path going up to Angel's landing. A bit scary

Just hangin around the top of about 1,000 foot cliff. No big deal.

It was a great trip. Thanks to Adam and Susan for the wonderful company, and the use of their car. I was blown away at how grand the grand canyon really is. It is so big. We went to the North Rim so next time we will have to go to the south. And Zions was a lot of fun. I would have to say it is the most hikable, if that is a word, national park I have been too. All in all, a great trip.

Your pictures are AMAZING!!!! Garrett did the narrows last fall with a group of guys, and they are going again this fall. I'm jealous! The picture of the grand canyon is beautiful----and the picture of you and Drew on your header is adorable!

I love it down there. I am glad you got to go. The Narrows is one of my favorite hikes of all time, but I hope you get to do Angel's Landing some time too. It's also amazing.

Your pics are sweet! We really did end up doing the Angel's Landing hike--tough, but totally worth it. We weren't daring enough to hang off the edge of the cliff, but it was still awesome! It was so fun to meet you guys...we should definitely hang out! Hope your blisters are healing and that you're feeling better!

Lovin' all of the pictures of all of your trips! So you didn't get to go to Hawai'i...I think that what you guys decided to do instead is so PERFECT. Well, almost perfect. If you'd included a trip to Washington THEN it would have been perfect. :)

What a great trip! I am still exhausted. Hey, we found out today that our car was only running on two cylinders! What a stallion to make it all the way back to Laramie. I promise we will post something soon.

Oh girl! The whole Twilight series will be some serious speed reading...I couldn't put them down! I'm sure you'll be done w/ all three by the time the 4th one comes out. When you're done w/ those you should read "the host" by the same author--just finished and I loved it! Don't give up on the W&G either, cuz those are sweet, too. Have fun!

So jealous! How far was the grand canyon from St. George? My grandparents live down there and we visit sometimes. Do you think The Narrows would be suitable to hike with two small children?
Anyway- miss you guys!

Chelsea-I think that you could go a little ways up the Narrow with two kiddos but it might be tough to do the whole thing. I think they would love doing even a little of it.

So me and Brandon want to go to Midway. Where did you stay when you were there?

Kristen said...

Basically the only place to stay in Midway is the Homestead Resort. Which is where you want to stay anyway. There are lots of different buildings/houses where you would stay. It's like a bed and Breakfast. Just go to the homestead webpage and it will tell you everything. You guys should go, it is such a great place!

sorry Sarah, correction.. Drew said there are other places to stay, but I couldn't find any of them when I was looking online. The homestead is really great though.
