March Madness

Ok, this actually has nothing to do with the real March Madness (although, if you must know I am beating Mickey and Drew pretty badly). Anyway, this month has been very eventful. First, all of Drew's siblings and their families traveled back to Colorado for a surprise party for his parents' 60th birthdays. It was a blast! They had no idea, and it was so fun being with everybody.
Actually the week before we left for Colorado was pretty crazy. Who ever planned having Easter, St. Patrick's Day, and parent teacher conferences in the same week is in trouble with me. Although, we did do a lot of fun things, but it was definitely a lot of work.
Then came the triathlon. It was really fun, and also really cold and windy. Luckily they switched the events around so that swimming was at the end. Which apparently messed me up a little because at the transition area I forgot to grab my goggles. I could see the look on people's faces, they were saying, "why would you do a triathlon without goggles? What an amateur." I think that I did the best on the run part. When I was on the bike going up some pretty nice hills against the wind I was pretty sure I could have ran faster than biked. I am really excited to do one in the warmth of the summer. Here are some pics from the month.
Here is a reinactment of the surprise. If you want to see the actual surprise on video go to the Foster homepage.

I thought it was important to show the sub Drew and I got the family for lunch. It was huge even for the whole family. King Soopers treats you right baby.

We made leprechaun traps on St. Patrick's Day. And it was so fun. They are so creative. During lunch I put gold sparkles and candy in their traps. Some are still wondering if it was me, but for the most part they were soo excited!

Of course the boys built an army base. The little signs say Gold.

And here are the girls welcoming the leprechauns with a nice hot tub.

We made our very own Blarney Stones.

I wrote this on the board. And they went nuts. Don't worry I wrote it with my left hand so there was no suspicion.

Here is my friend Brooke who invited me to do the race. We went on a bike ride a week before and she took a "little" spill. Ironically she had just gotten her bike and named it Lucky. It was the first time she had ridden it. Not so lucky. She did break her elbow, and she is quite the trooper. Love you Brooke!! This is the night of the accident.

This is me a little nervous and a little cold, before the start.
This is right before the run. (We ran, then biked, then swam)

Here I am right after I finished.

Love the skull cap you wore during the running. I'm sure the people around you were intimidated. It has been a pretty crazy March, but let me tell you something, the real "madness" this March is the fact that I am losing not only to you, but to everyone else in the fam. Actually, let me correct that, I am beating Grant and I think Monica as well. That makes me feel a litte better. I just wish I was beating dad!

Congrats on the sixth place finish, and I can't wait to see the half marathon coming up this summer. And let me take this opportunity to tell everyone how busy you are, and how hard it is for you to find time to train everyday. All I know is that I couldn't do it. On top of that, you still find time to cook dinner, because if I was the one cooking around here we would have some serious problems. I just reminds me of one of the many reasons I love you.

You're amazing, Kristen! I don't know how you do it all.

So, you make me feel lame that I have to work and train so hard for the triathlons I've done/am working toward. You just decide at the beginning of March, "I'm going to run a triathlon!" You are amazing, lady! And on top of that you are an incredible, involved, fun teacher. And on top of THAT, you are a great wife to Drew and a fabulous sister-in-law. I love ya, woman! Congrats on such a great finish with the triathlon!

Kristen,
You had to put the knife in a little deeper and twist it and then put a little salt in it and then a little iodine on top of that...didn't you. Well, let me tell you again, I actually turned in the wrong brackets to the Commish. I had done a preliminary one with the intent to tweak it later, which I did. Unfortunately, I gave the wrong one to the Commish. I have to live with my error, but just wanted you to know that by the tweaked bracket I'm not only beating you but winning the whole thing. It is really too bad but thems is the breaks!!

Anyway, Congrats on a great race. It is fortunate for you that I have a bad knee or I would have had to show you up on that as well.

You know I love you girl, but you can't beat me at anything unless I let you....go on and admit it to yourself.

Mickey, if by "tweaking" you mean cheating than I totally understand. Congratulations to you.

Leprechaun traps, eh? I'll have to try one of those. I could use a little more candy.

Congrats on the triathalon . . . I've gotta try that myself one of these days before I get too much older.

And thanks for all your help with the big surprise . . . it was a good ol' time.
